BHUBANESWAR: Burla’s specialty is its entrepreneurial mindset. Former students of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VISUT) are showcasing their skills by launching startups like ‘Sambalpuri Hub’. It should be remembered that the main purpose of science and technology should not be just material gains, but human welfare, said Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Attending the 17th convocation ceremony of VISUT on Friday, Shri Pradhan said that during the glorious journey of the past year, this university has shaped the destinies of countless students, who today have brought glory to their motherland Odisha and the country at the national and international levels. Shri Pradhan congratulated the students and researchers who have received degrees, titles and medals on this auspicious occasion. He further said that VISUT has emerged as a leading institution in the country by implementing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary new national education policy with all his heart and soul. On this occasion, the launch of three handbooks including ‘Prayogshala Rekhetika’ in Odia language by VISUT is a vivid reflection of this.

With the help of a professor from IIT Madras, technical education in the mother tongue has become possible through ‘AI tools’. What is the need for technology or technical skills in today’s era? There is a need for innovation or ‘innovation’ to make human life easier. Sambalpur’s history is very ancient; the ‘rock art’ here from about 10,000 years ago on Earth proves that even then, humans used to express themselves using some ‘tool’. Based on that history, today’s modernity should reach its peak.

‘Sensitivity’ is the core character of VISUIT and the key to developing Odisha lies with the students of this institution. In today’s technological era, we have envisioned a ‘Quantum Center’ in Sambalpur. VISUIT is the real seed of innovation in Odisha. If VISUIT fulfills its responsibilities properly, then there is no doubt that this institution will become a solution center for many of the world’s complex problems.

Before joining the program, Shri Pradhan paid homage to the statue of revolutionary Veer Surendra Sai in the premises of the educational institution. The program was attended by Odisha Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Sampada Swain, Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Minister Ravi Narayan Naik, Sambalpur MLA Jai Narayan Mishra.
