BHUBANESWAR: As many as 17 criminal cases have been pending against tribal leader and BJD Rajya Sabha candidate, Niranjan Bisi, as pre the affidavit filed under Format -C-7 by the BJD Candidate in his nomination papers.
The cases were framed under various sections of IPC. 17 cases included 284/11, 199/12, 222/2015, 245/2015, 79/2013, 23/2102, 183/12, 198/12, 228/2013, 4/2014, 25/2013, 153/112, 6/2010, 126/2009, 197/2005, 86/2016 and 499/2019. Cases were pending at SDJM, Bolangir, JMFC, Saintala, SDJM , Patnagarh, JMFC Titilagarh, SDJM Titilagarh and JMFC Bangomunda. Bisi got acquitted in one case among the 17 pending against him, on 18.04.2009.
Nature of offences included riotinh, provocation, obstruction in public way, use of arms, unlawful assembly rally with deadly arms and gherao intimidation. Rail roko, rastaroko and gherao, wrongful restraint, obscene words and many more.
Meanwhile, as many as 4 BJD Candidates including Dr Sasmit Patra, Manas Mangaraj, Sulata Deo and Bisi on Tueday filed their nominations papers for four Rajya Sabha seats in Odisha.
Polling for three Rajya Sabha seats will be held from 9 am to 4 pm on June 10 while counting of votes will take place at 5 PM on the very day.
However , bypoll to one Rajya Sabha seat from Odisha will be held from 9 am to 4 pm on June 13. The counting of votes will take place at 5 pm on the same day.
