BHUBANESWAR: In a tragic incident, a 16-year-old girl from Balanga, Odisha, who was battling for her life after being allegedly set on fire, has passed away at AIIMS, New Delhi, on Saturday, according to hospital officials.
The victim had suffered over 75% burn injuries in the attack on July 19. She was initially admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar before being airlifted to AIIMS Delhi on July 20 for advanced and specialized treatment.
Odisha Police released a statement claiming that their investigation has found no evidence of any other individual’s involvement in the incident.
The police statement, posted on a social media platform, requested the public to “maintain sensitivity” and avoid spreading unconfirmed claims while the case proceeds.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed his deep shock and grief, stating that despite all efforts by the government and the dedicated medical team at AIIMS, her life could not be saved. He offered condolences to the family.
