TALCHER/KANIHA: 15th Rural Athletics Sports Meet is being organized by NTPC Sports Council from December 23-24 , 2017 at NTPC Kaniha under CSR initiative. Around 400 school children (Boys & Girls) from 27 schools of Kaniha block are participating in the annual sports event. .School Students will be participating in the following athletics events i.e running race event of 100,200,,discuss throw,javeline throw, long jump ,short put & discuss throw.
The event was inaugurated by Ram Kuber ,Executive Director ,Talcher Kaniha by flag hoisting & release of balloons at Stage II Stadium. Kuber on the occasion addressing the participants said ”various CSR initiatives were taken by the power station for the social development of the surrounding village people .
He appealed to participate in rural sports in large numbers to make it success”. The event is an attempt to encourage sports among youth. The objective of the sports meet was to promote rural sports events and encourage hidden talent of the rural school children.
N S Rao ,GM(TS),Anil Jana,GM(FM),KS Sarma,AGM(HR) ,PK Sahu ,DGM(HR) K C Maharana,Chairman NTPC Sports Council officials ,Rashmi Ranjan Satapathy.Secretary, Tapansewar Pradhan ,Joint Secretary of Sports Council, Union & Association representatives were also present on this occasion. NTPC Kaniha has been organizing rural sports meet for last consecutive 14 years.
