BHUBANESWAR: With COVID-19 Positive cases crossing 15,000 mark while death toll continued to rise to 79, Odisha Government on Thursday announced to imposed 14-day complete lockdown in four districts and one municipality area from 9 pm of July 17 to midnight of July 31.
The districts to remain under lockdown are – Ganjam, Khurda, Cuttack, and Jajpur. Besides, the lockdown has also been imposed in the Rourkela Municipal Corporation area during the same period.Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy said that the COVID-19 caseload (both active and new one’s) is concentrated in these four districts and the Rourkela Municipal Corporation area.
Tripathy said that two-thirds of the active cases are in these four districts and Rourkela. In Rourkela, 90 percent of cases of Sundergarh are concentrated. Therefore the decision has been taken to impose lockdown in Ganjam, Khurda, Cuttack, Jajpur, and Rourkela Municipality from 9 pm tomorrow (July 17) till midnight (12 am) of July 31.
