BHUBANESWAR: As many as 12 Dalals and Middle men were on Friday arrested by Khandagiri Police from AIIMS in Bhubaneswar. Police nabbed middle men posing as patients.
Sources said, police men in civil dress went to the hospital and posed themselves as patients and their relatives. When they arrived at the hospital, the touts approached them and offered their help. The police team nabbed 12 frauds on the spot.
Recently Police in Berhampur and Kendrapara did the same following this method and arrested around 20 middlemen. Recently, around 8 middle men also arrested at Bhubaneswar RTO office here.
Odisha Health and Family Welfare Department (H&FW) had asked all state-run medical colleges and hospitals to launch a crackdown on brokers or middlemen diverting patients to private clinics and hospitals from the Out Patient Departments (OPDs) of government hospitals across the State.
