11 Boxes of Silver Weighing 500 kg shifted to Government Treasury

PURI/BHUBANESWAR: For silver cladding of 8 Dwar of Shree Lord Jagannath Temple,  donor has donated silver. This year 7 number of Dwar work completed. But the Kalahata or inner Dwar work could not take for time constrain. It is decided to do the work during next Ratha Yatra when the deities will leave for Shree Gundicha Temple.

For safe keeping of the silver meant for the Kahalahat dwar , it was sent to District treasury for safe keeping for a year on Tuesday. Earlier it was at the strong room of Niladri Bhakta Niwas. Total 500 kg in 11 boxes were shifted amid tight security. Both plane plates and designed silver item. Next year before one month of Ratha Yatra the same will be brought from treasury and work will be commenced.

Dwar Work completed this year during Ratha Yatra are Jayabijaya ,Bhogamandapa,Beherana ,Sata Pahacha ,Bimala Temple ,Laxmi Temple and Adi Nrusingha Temple.

The SJTA headed by Dr Krishan Kumar has decided to do silver plating of eight major wooden doors of the shrine, including the ones guarding the sanctum sanctorum with 2,500 kg of silver donated by a Mumbai-based devotee. The silver plating work of the Kalahata Dwar would be done only during the Rath Yatra next year.
