SUM COVID-19 Hospital-SUM Ultimate Medicare: A Bridge Between Families and the Hospital

NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR:In the prevailing uncertain times, a family goes into a tizzy if a member becomes Covid-19 positive. The situation gets difficult after a person is admitted into a Covid-19 hospital as no family member has access to the patient because of the highly contagious nature of the disease.

In such a scenario, the treating teams at SUM Covid Hospital and SUM Ultimate Medicare have been extending yeoman service to the family members of patients by being in touch with them on regular basis.

The case of Mr. Pradip Kumar Madhup, a senior officer with RITES working at Jharsuguda, is an example.

After being infected by Covid-19, Mr. Madhup was initially admitted in the MCL Hospital at Jharsuguda and then rushed to the SUM Covid Hospital here for treatment. When he was wheeled into the ICU, none of his family members were with him.

In fact, his family members, stationed at Patna, were also infected by the disease and were under treatment there. One of his relatives living in Singapore was in constant touch with the hospital help desk and was provided all information about the patient.

After 12 days, he was shifted to the SUM Ultimate Medicare where he was treated under the care of Senior Consultant in Pulmonary Medicine and critical care unit team. He was discharged from the hospital on Monday.

“When I was brought to SUM Covid Hospital, there was no family member with me. They were far away from me. But the care and treatment I received from the doctors, nurses and para-medics of both the hospitals, SUM covid and SUM Ultimate Medicare has given me a new lease of life,” Mr. Madhup said as he was leaving the hospital.

His relative based in Singapore, Mr. Kumar Anand also thanked both the hospitals making a special mention about the cooperation he received from the help desk.

Priymabada Das, a 59-year-old lady, also had a similar experience to recount. She was also brought to SUM Covid Hospital after being infected and was subsequently treated at the SUM Ultimate Medicare.

Her son Sambhab Das, who lives in Melbourne, was worried about her condition. The help desk in both hospitals provided him all information till she was discharged from the hospital a month ago. Das has expressed his appreciation and gratefulness to the teams who treated his mother.
