SUM COVID-19 Fighter Kamalini Mallick Honoured

BHUBANESWAR: Ms. Kamalini Mallick, Nursing in-charge of the SUM Covid Hospital here was honoured with the ‘Kalinga Virangana’ award on Sunday for her relentless endeavour to serve Covid patients over the last two years.

The award, instituted by the Seva Prayas Foundation, was presented to Ms. Mallick by Dr. Sanghamitra Pati, Director of the Regional Medical Research Centre (ICMR) in Bhubaneswar.

The award was also presented to Ms. Sandhyarani Mallick and Ms. Rina Sahu (both for social service), Ms. Minati Singha (journalism), Ms. Hiranmayee Mishra (literature), Ms. Sashmita Sahani (public life), Ms. Jhilmil Sahu (education) and Ms. Jagruti Rath (acting).

SOA Deemed to be University and SUM Ultimate Medicare were also felicitated on the occasion.

The event, held at the Wonder World Water Park near Puri, was also graced by Olympian Anuradha Biswal and dancer Saswat Joshi.

Earlier in the morning, a women’s car rally organised by the same organization was flagged off at Phulnakhara on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar by Mr. Amar Patnaik, MP, former Olympian Anuradha Biswal, former MLA Mr. Siddharth Sekhar Singh and founder of Seva Prayas Foundation Ms. Lincoln Subudhi.

Around 50 women participated in the 80 km rally which ended at the Wonder World Water Park near Puri. Col. Sonali Rath won the rally while Santoshi Sahu and Archana Patnaik became the first and second runner up. Shraddha Mohapatra and Mita Mana were presented consolation prizes.

The jury for the competition included Mr. Siddharth Sekhar Singh, Rotarian Jayashree Mohanty, Ms. Sini Mohanty and Mr. Ranjan Jaiswal. Advisor of the Kalinga Virangana Award Committee, Ms. Pritichhanda Dhal and Advisor of Seva Prayas Foundation Ms. Ahalya Subudhi, were also present.
