BHUBANESWAR/ANGUL: Call it Steel Maker Naveen Jindal, who owns Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) at the home turf of Union and State Steel Ministers like Dharmendra Pradhan and Prafulla Mallick.

The JSPL Chairman , who spent entire Sunday at Company’s Integrated Steel Facility in Odisha’s coal bearing Angul, happens to be the home turf of both Union and State Steel Ministers like Pradhan and Mallick, said “Our people work 24×7, 365 days to make steel,”.

“Spent the day reviewing operations and project work at @JSPLCorporate Angul, Odisha. Our people work 24×7, 365 days to make steel,” JSPL Chairman and former 2 times Lok Sabha MP, Naveen Jindal tweeted @MPNaveenJindal.

Naveen Jindal has been frequently travelling to Angul since he presented Company’s Road map for 2030 to Union Steel-PNG Minister Pradhan in New Delhi few days back.JSPL’s strategy is in sync with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Purvodaya  will contribute to achieving the India’s envisioned capacity of 300 MTPA by 2030.

The plan to increase JSPL’s steel plant capacity in Angul, Odisha more than four-fold to 25.2 MTPA, and make it the biggest single location steel plant in the world will fuel the development of eastern India in line with Mission Purvodaya. This will also create large-scale direct and indirect employment for the youth of Odisha. JSPL Chairman lauded the Staffs and employees for their committed work for the expansion work. He expressed satisfaction over the ongoing project works.

Few days back, Naveen Jindal, had performed Bhumi Pujan for the company’s expansion projects in Odisha’s coal bearing Angul, the home turf of Union Steel-PNG Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Ground breaking ceremony was held for World’s largest Grate-Kiln, 6 MTPA pellet plant at JSPL Angul in Odisha.

JSPL’s integrated steel plant in Angul reported the highest ever monthly production to 4.16 lakh tonnes earlier this month. The JSPL after bagging the Gare Palama Coal block in Chhattisgarh is now seriously looking for Chendipada Coal block under Talcher Coal Fields of Odisha’s Angul.

Earlier in November 2020, an expansion project of  Jindal Steel and Power Limited’s(JSPL) integrated steel plant in Angul from 6 MTPA to 18.6 MTPA, 36 MTPA slurry pipeline and 12.5 MTPA cement plant against an investment of Rs. 76,018 crore with potential employment opportunities for over 24,350 persons in two phases was approved by 24th high level clearance authority (HLCA) chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

JSPL operates the world’s first coal gasification based DRI plant of 2.0 million tonne capacity at Angul in Odisha, where syngas is used to make direct-reduced iron (DRI) or sponge iron, an input required in the steel-making process. JSPL’s coal gasification plant capacity is 225,000 NM3 per hour of syngas, which is supporting the 2.0 million MT of syngas based DRI plant.JSPL currently has a requirement of around 5.5 million MT per year of metallurgical coal and 7 million MT of thermal coal requirements.

The doubling of 13.5 km track between Kerajang and Angul, a part of the doubling of Sambalpur-Talcher link , will help JSPL in view of loading as this line is very important as it will have a surge from 3 to 6 MT from JSPL siding.
