PK Tripathi replaces Binoy Kumar as New Union Steel Secretary

BHUBANESWAR/NEW DELHI:  Senior IAS officer Pradip Kumar Tripathi on Monday took over the charge as Secretary in the Ministry of Steel, according to an official statement.

Tripathi, a 1987 batch IAS officer of Jammu& Kashmir Cadre, took charge as the new steel secretary upon superannuation of present incumbent Binoy Kumar, who retired on May 31.

Prior to this, Tripathi had been posted as Special Secretary and Establishment Officer in Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), read the statement. Earlier, in April, the government had appointed Tripathi as Steel Secretary.

The Ministry of Steel is an executive branch agency of the government that is responsible for formulating all policies regarding steel production, distribution and pricing in India. Currently, the ministry is headed by a union minister, Dharmendra Pradhan and is assisted by a Minister of State, Faggan Singh Kulaste.
