NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR:Naveen Jindal, Chairman Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) said steel consumption in India is currently at 75 kgs per person per annum against the world average of 200 kgs. “We feel this will improve from 75 to 160 in the next ten years so good future for steel industry in India. Similarly for power, per capita consumption in India is 15 times lesser than in Europe and the US. Steel and power form the background of infrastructure in the country which needs a major boost,” he added.
JSPL Chiarman was addressing at the India Economic Conclave on Thursday hosted by Times Network IEC 2021,which brought some of the sharpest minds in the industry and government on one platform to discuss the way ahead for India and how the process of all-inclusive multi-dimensional growth could be expedited in the decade ahead.
The architects of this mission, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Law, Communications & IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Railways, Commerce & Industry minister Piyush Goyal, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, and RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das, have converge at the event to discuss India’s action plan for the new decade.
