Naveen-Shallu joins hands with Odisha Government to fight COVID-19

ANGUL/BARBIL/TENSA/BHUBANESWAR: With Both Public and Private Corporate players started donating funds to Odisha Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in view of the outbreak of COVID-19, Congress leader Naveen Jindal led Jindal Steel and Power Ltd and his Philanthropist wife Shallu Jindal , who is also Chairperson of JSPL Foundation, the CSR arms of JSPL Group has joined hands with Naveen Patnaik led Government in the State to fight back COVID-19 outbreak. JSPL is running an Integrated Steel Plant in Odisha’s Angul and owns several Iron Ore Blocks in Odisha.

JSPL has constituted a Crisis Management Group (CMG) at its headquarters and across all its facilities. Angul CMG team is in continuous touch with the District Administrations and the Government Healthcare Officers and seeking their regular guidance to overcome the challenges being posed by the coronavirus. Shallu Jindal, who, too an eminent dancer, is working closely with the local community to sensitize them through pamphlets, posters and mobile messaging to ensure social distancing, hand washing and taking personal hygiene measures seriously as per the guidelines issued by the Government of India.

Most of the employees have been advised to work from home, the company has been issuing regular communique to its employees to make them aware of the importance of personal hygiene and self-care. Team of medicos dedicated to each Unit is supervising the care of the people employed in the unit, sources said.

JSPL Chairman Jindal has given utmost importance to the good health and well-being of the people living within the company townships and in the local community. He has been particularly concerned about the health of his colleagues and their families including all those living in the Angul District given the spread of the deadly virus. He has advised his leadership team to ensure that no stone is left unturned while taking care of people, especially elders and children.

JSPL has always encouraged the local communities and has been working with SHG women from the villages nearby to create handmade goods by using the locally available raw-material. And with the spread of Corona Virus, it has now helped them to develop masks that are now being produced by the same group of women from the local villages. Everyday 3000 masks are being made and provided to employees and families of its employees after UV treatment.

JSPL has ensured strict adherence to all rules and advisories of the Government of India and the Government of the State of Odisha. People are not allowed to congregate under any circumstances and movement of people living at its townships has been strictly monitored. The Company has also ensured that essential items are available within the township and it has advised its residents to maintain a 2 Meter distance between each other while buying essential day to day items including medicines.

Meanwhile, with COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent health services, several leading corporate houses in Odisha , has started donating to CMRF.State PSU Odisha Mining Corporation donated   Rs 500 crores to Chief Minister Relief Fund.OMC has also decided to give Rs 250 crore interim dividend for Year 2019-20.This is apart from the above contribution OMC has already contributed Rs.100 crore to CMRF in February 2020.MGM Minerals of MGM Group has also donated Rs 1 crore while State owned OTDC donated 5 lakhs.
