BHUBANESWAR/ANGUL/BARBIL: JSPL Foundation, the CSR arms, of Naveen Jindal led Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL), on Friday observed International Day of People with Disability by holding several social welfare activities at its facilities in Bhubaneswar, Angul and Barbil in Odisha.
Apart from Odisha, the Foundation also marked the occasion at Raigarh in Chhattisgarh and Patratu in Jharkhand.Day marks Special sports, cultural activities, distribution of hearing aids, orthotic support, CP wheel chairs and walkers to children with special needs.
On the onset of winter, blanket distributed to visually impaired persons in Bhubaneswar. JSPL Foundation officials distributed among city’s special needs persons.
JSPL Foundation observed the International Day of Persons with Disabilities-2021 at its ‘Asha the Hope’ centre in Jindal Nagar, Angul. Various games were organised for the children with special needs, who are receiving therapeutic service at the Centre. Mr. Narayan Mohapatra, DSSO, Angul; Mrs. Anita Mittal; Mrs. Anindita Bandyopadhyay; Mr. Atanu Rath, Principal OPJS; Mr. K.P. Behera, CMO of JSPL PHC; and Mrs. Puspa Satapathy, GM (CSR) witnessed the competitions and felicitated the winners. They also distributed aids and appliances like Ankle Foot Orthosis (AFO) and Knee Foot Orthosis (KFO) to required children.
Children of ‘Asha the Hope’ enthusiastically participated in games like Racing, Balloon blast, soft ball throwing, Candle blowing, Chocolate race, dancing etc.JSPL Foundation, through Asha the Hope Cenre in Odisha, Chhatisgarh and Jharkhand has been rehabilitating and mainstreaming more than 5000 children with special needs.
More than 5000 children with special needs are being rehabilitated and mainstreamed in AshaTheHope Centres in Chhatisgarh, Odisha and Jharkhand. AshaTheHope is translation of JSPL and JSPL Foundation’s commitment for achieving total inclusion in terms of accessibility,health care, edu and skill building.
