BHUBANESWAR: The anticipatory bail plea filed by Soumyajit Mohapatra, the Boyfriend of Infosys Software Engineer Sweta Utkal Kumari, who had committed suicide in the City earlier this week, has raised many questions on City Police’s investigation. One week passed, City Police yet to reach to the conclusion while key accused Soumyajit moving freely and seeking bail from HC. Soumyajit applied for anticipatory bail in the Orissa High Court on Thursday and hearing of which yet to happen.
Sources said, telephone calls, whatsapp messages and other related issues clearly indicating Soumyajit’s role in this suicide case but police, only once quizzed him and let him free. Meanwhile, CDR (Call Detail Record) report revealed Sweta had made 15 phone calls to Soumyajit at around 1:30AM, an hour before she allegedly ended her life in her apartment. However, Soumyajit had not picked her calls.
Adding a fresh twist today to the suicide of software engineer Sweta Utkal Kumari from Sailashreevihar locality of Bhubaneswar, a Whatsapp message of the girl sent earlier to mother of her boyfriend and key accused Soumyajeet Mahapatra has surfaced. In the purported message, Sweta had written, “ I had given Rs 12,000 to your son to purchase mobile phone and your son is a liar,’.
The parents of the deceased met DCP Prateek Singh demanding justice. Sweta’s father Sushant Das and her mother met the DCP and alleged that even though Sweta’s male friend Soumyajit came to the police station on the day of the incident, the police did not even call him for questioning again.
Chandrasekharpur police had registered a case against him under Section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the IPC. Sweta, hails from Bhadrak, was found hanging inside her apartment in Sailashree Vihar area here on August 21. The police had registered an abetment to suicide case under section 306 against Soumyajit on the basis of the complaint of the deceased’s family.
