NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR: While replying to BJP’s Sundargarh MP Jual Oram, Union Commerce, Industry, Railways and Food Minister, Piyush Goyal on Wednesday informed that the proposal to set up industrial corridor on the site of 451 kms of Bharatmala Coastal Highway from Digha in West Bengal to Gopalpur in Odisha is in right track.
Sundargarh MP Jual Orma had sought know whether the Government has a proposal to set up industrial corridor on the site of 451 kms of Bharatmala Coastal Highway from Digha in West Bengal to Gopalpur in Odisha if so, the details thereof; and the details of industrial units already set up and proposed to be set up in the said industrial corridor?
Union Minister Piyush Goyal said Government of Odisha submitted the proposal for inclusion and development of Odisha Economic Corridor (OEC) in July, 2020. National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT) in its meeting held on 19th August, 2020 approved the inclusion of OEC under the mandate of Industrial Corridor Programme and development of priority nodes namely, Gopalpur, Bhubaneswar
Kalinganagar (GBK node) and Paradip –Kendrapada – Dhamra – Subarnarekha (PKDS node). Project development activities for these nodes have been initiated. Consultant has been appointed on 9th February, 2021 for preparation of preliminary engineering and master planning including demand assessment of industries.
