BHUBANESWAR/NEW DELHI: Union PNG-Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Jindal Steel and Power Limited Chairman and former MP, Naveen Jindal on Thursday addressed an E-Conference hosted by Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in association with the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Ministry of Steel on Aatma Nirbhar Bharat: Special Focus on Chemical & Petro-Chemical and Steel Sector.
Union Minister while addressing the meet, shared Prime Ministre Narendra Modi’s vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat and how Odisha can contribute to making India self-reliant. Ensuring Minimum Government, and Maximum Governance will be key to enable our industries to create wealth for society. We must facilitate businesses by providing necessary infrastructure, he added.
“Odisha’s natural advantage in mineral resources and having large ports offer unique opportunities for industrial growth. Both steel and petrochemical sector and their ancillary industries are uniquely poised to leverage the opportunities and further expand their footprints.Multiple economic indicators are already suggesting a rebounding of Indian economy. Industry and businesses have a huge role to play in the economic recovery and making of an #AatmanirbharBharat,” he said.
“With a bouquet of policy reforms, GOI aims to provide a level-playing field to the industries for wealth creation. Well-laid processes and policy clarity are being designed to ensure ease of doing business.Port-led economy can be a game-changer for Odisha. GOI is doing massive work in inland waterways in Odisha. Paradip port has emerged as the numero uno port of India. Dhamra and Gopalpur ports are playing important roles,” Pradhan said.
“Mission Purvodaya envisioned by Narendra Modi calls for balanced development of India with eastern India leading the way. Odisha will play a key role in realising Mission Purvodaya and making of an #AatmanirbharBharat,” he added.
The e-Conference was hosted to bring together public and private sector experts to brainstorm on the current scenario of petrochemical & Steel sector.Besides, Union PNG-Steel Minister Pradhan, Odisha Industries, Energy and MSME Minister Capt Dibya Shankar Mishra, Odisha Industries Secretary Hemanta Sharma, Jindal Steel and Power Limited Chairman Naveen Jindal, Tata Steel MD TV Narendra, CMD, ONGC Sashi Sekhar, Chairman, IOCL, Shrikant M Vaidya, ICC President Mayank Jalan, ICC Odisha State Council Chairman, MC Thomas and Co-Chairman, JB Pany were among those attended and spoke on this occasion.
