BHUBANESWAR: The BJP in Odisha on Saturday got a major boost after family members of late senior Congress leader Lulu Mohapatra joining the Saffron camp here at a glittering political gathering .
Late Lulu Mohapatra was a 3 times Congress MLA from Brahmagiri Assembly segment of Odisha’s pilgrimage district of Puri.
On Saturday, late Lulu’s brother Lalitendu Mohapatra and daughter Upasana Mohapatra joined the BJP along with a large number of supporters from Lulu Sena, an outfit floated after the sad demise of late Congress MLA.
Besides, Lulu Mohapatra’s family, former Youth Congress president Satyajeet Patnaik and senior Odisha High Court advocate Pitambar Acharya also joined the Saffron party in the presence of Union PNG and Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan and other senior leaders . BJP legislature party leader KV Singhdeo and BJP State President Basant Panda were present at the Mishraan Parva.
Late Lulu Mohapatra was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly from Brahmagiri in the year 1995, 2000 and 2004.He held the position of vice-president of Orissa Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) from 2004 to 2009. Mohapatra died on November 6th 2016 due to brain stroke and multiple organ failure.
