BJP’s ‘Vikas Gaurav Yatra’ reaches Odisha as PM plays development card

BALASORE/BHUBANESWAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday played devement card in Odisha while addressing a massive rally in northern district of Balasore bordering West Bengal and Jharkhand.

The Prime Minister’s meeting assumed extra significance as it coincided with the completion of 2 years of NDA government at the centre. The PM outlined the plans and programs launched by the Union Government and how they have impacted the lives of millions of people in the country. The PM talked about his focus on the eastern parts of the country and his commitment to reduce regional disparity.

He highlighted central government’s various schemes for empowerment of the girl child and women including the measures taken up by the central government for facilitating education of girl child by building a conducive ambiance for them. The PM explained how seemingly different schemes run by various departments of the government converge to create a framework for poverty alleviation, employment generation and better healthcare facilities.

Reaffirming that the government’s top priority is to eradicate poverty and unemployment, he stressed on long term strategies for ameliorating economic problems than short term quick fixes that lose their sheen in a few days. He rued the paradox that Odisha presents being a poor state despite having enormous resources.

He also highlighted his programs directed at financial inclusion like the Mudra bank and Jan Dhan schemes and schemes launched for farmer’s empowerment. He pointed at the high pace of electrification in the country during the NDA regime which is a trigger of development in the rural areas. More or less the PM placed his development agenda before people and sought their cooperation to accelerate his development efforts.
