BHUBANESWAR: DGP Abhay and two of his most trusted lieutenant read, Director Intelligence, Lalit Das and IGP(Operations), Amitabh Thakur, on Saturday sent a very clear message to Jawans fighting left-wing insurgency in dense forest of Odisha, that Police Headquarters’ and its top brasses always and round the clock ready for them, when they are in trouble.
Diverting route to airlift injured Jawans, DGP and his team of senior IPS officers, shown a great heart in dealing with a humanitarian crisis, which has set an example for other Maoists hit States.
Based on reliable input an operation was launched under Gochapada PS of Kandhamal district on 9/7/2021. During search of the core area Maoists opened indiscriminate fire on the security forces this morning. Two commandos of SOG sustained bullet injuries. Some Maoists are also reported to be injured.
Both of them with the help of CRPF, SOG and DVF were brought to the road head from the operational area.DGP along with Director (Intelligence), IG (Operation) and DIG (SIW) on a tour to Malkangiri and Koraput Districts to review anti-LWE work, their program was changed and the helicopter landed in Padelpada in Boudh District.Injured have been airlifted to Bhubaneswar. Doctor has accompanied.Both the commandoes are stable. Operation has been intensified in the area.
