Aul-Kanika lost a great son as Former IPS officer SN Swain Passes Away

RAJKANIKA/BHUBANESWAR: The 1977 batch IPS officer and former IG of Police, SN Swain passed away at 76.  “We are saddened to learn about sudden  demise of   Shri Surendranath Swain a retired IPS officers of 1977 batch.He was known  for his sincerity,hard work , and honesty  .Odisha Police will miss him .Our condolences to his family and friends,” Odisha DGP tweeted.

Swain had joined the Odisha Police force in December 1981. Appointed DIG Odisha in 1994, he held several important posts like DIG (Admin), CR Cuttack, Vigilance Cuttack, Director of Sports & YS Dept and Tech (PMT) Cuttack.

He was promoted to IGP in April 2001 and served as Director, Printing Stationery & Publication, Odisha, before retiring in 2004.

Swain born in Sisua village under Rajkanika Police Station in Kendrapara. He worked in several establishments of Odisha including IGP Central Range.
