PACS has so far procured over 1,771 tons of Moong –Groundnuts, says Minister Raja Swain

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Civil Supplies,Consumer Welfare and Cooperation Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain aka Raja Swain on Tuesday said that  “PACS has so far procured over 1,771 tons of moong and groundnuts from the farmers amounting to Rs 10.49 lakh.

So far 15900 farmers have registered their names and added that this is 178 percent more than the previous year. Money has been transferred directly to the accounts of farmers, added Minister Swain. “Had a meeting with Member Secretary, OSAM Board, RCS, MD, OSCB and MD MARKFED today regarding effective implementation of #MoSarkar programme in Cooperation department.@CMO_Odisha @Coop_Odisha,” twitted Minister Swain,

The Cooperation Minister said the motive of the government is to provide assistance for production of cereals and cash crops so that the economic status of the farmers will be increased. Swain said last year by August, 8856 farmers had registered their names during Rabi season. The registration has been extended till July 31.

The registration process has started from May 7. Last year, 55 PACS in eight districts have procured cereals and oilseeds from farmers. The minister said this year these products have been procured from 17 districts through 171 PACS. The process of collection will go on till August 5.

The minister said the guidelines announced by the government relating to COVID-19 is being followed strictly while the procurement process is on in different districts. He said social distancing is also strictly maintained at procurement centres.
