6th Rural Cultural Meet held at NTPC Talcher Kaniha

TALCHER/KANIHA:Rural Cultural Meet 2016-17 was organized by NTPC Talcher Kaniha under its CSR initiative at Recreation Club on December 18,2016.

The meet was inaugurated by Debasis Sarkar Group General Manager ,Talcher Kaniha with lighting of lamps in presence of P K Mahapatra,GM(HR) ,A K Ojha ,GM(HR) and representatives of union and associations.

Welcome address was given by GM(HR)  A K Ojha.Speaking on this occasion Ojha shared the importance of culture in life,he said Odisha is known for its diverse culture and the rural cultural meet is a medium to encourage rural school children to display their skills.

Group General Manager addressing the august gathering said” this unique progromme organized by NTPC Kaniha provides a platform to school children to display their untapped talent and show their  skills” .

Speaking further he added that Odisha has a special position in the cultural heritage of India,the state of Odisha has produced many eminent personalities and world famous writers ,dancers & authors which shows the rich cultural heritage of the state.He appreciated the CSR dept. for organising such events and should be continued in the future also.

Sarkar said” such programme will encourage children to participate in district and state level cultural competitions”. 433 rural students involving 31 schools of nearby villagers participated in the rural cultural meet. This is the sixth year, NTPC Talcher Kaniha had organized such meet.

In senior category, Derang High School was declared the best performing group and in junior category Burubahal UPS and sub-junior category Golaghara Sahi PS were the winners respectively. Smt A Anita Raguru of “Nrutanya Institute”,Angul & Smt Anita Singh Deo of “Nrutya Sangeet Bharati Institute” ,Angul were the judges of rural cultural meet.

Prizes and trophies were distributed to the winners at the closing ceremony of the Cultural Meet by Group General Manager ,Talcher Kaniha and GM(HR),NTPC Kaniha, informed Amit Kumar Behera, Deputy Manager(PR).
